Press release

Planned changes to the leadership team of Grant Thornton Germany

Düsseldorf, November 3rd, 2026 – After more than 30 years of client work focusing on complex transactions and 17 years as Member of the Management Board of Grant Thornton Germany, most recently as Chairwoman of the Management Board, Prof. Dr. Heike Wieland-Blöse has decided to leave her position as CEO at the end of the year. It is intended that she will remain associated with the firm as Senior Advisor and take on a role on the Supervisory Board in order to continue to closely support the initiated transformation at Grant Thornton’s German member firm. In doing so, she will leverage her strong relationships with clients, competitors and the profession.

Prof. Dr. Heike Wieland-Blöse: “My task of strategically and structurally repositioning Grant Thornton Germany has been fulfilled. Following the successful completion of the strategic partnership with Cinven and the establishment of the Senior Leadership Team, now is the right time to hand over operational leadership of the firm for the next phase of the transformation to new hands and for me to open a new chapter in my life. In this chapter, too, I will remain committed to the topics for which I have advocated throughout my professional career.”

Maxim Crewe, Partner and Head of Sectors and Countries at Cinven: “Prof. Dr. Heike Wieland-Blöse has, over the past few years, made Grant Thornton Germany the provider of choice for the upper mid-market and laid important foundations for the firm’s next phase of growth. We are very grateful to her for what has been achieved and for the strategic partnership that we have established together. Her continued commitment in her new role will be a key building block for the further success of the firm.”

Joachim Riese, Chair of the Supervisory Board of Grant Thornton Germany: “Grant Thornton Germany owes Heike Wieland-Blöse a lot. Over many years, she has shaped the firm with tremendous energy and a keen sense for forward-looking topics. As CEO, she has taken the firm to a new strategic level. With her astute, far-sighted and always approachable manner, she has earned the unreserved trust of the partners. She has also successfully represented Germany within the Grant Thornton International organisation.”

In October 2025, under her leadership, Grant Thornton Germany entered into a strategic partnership with the international private equity firm Cinven, which also holds a stake in Grant Thornton’s UK member firm. The partners voted unanimously in favour of this partnership with the aim of further accelerating the firm’s growth trajectory and expanding its offering as a trusted adviser to the German upper mid-market. Closing took place in August 2026. In parallel, Heike Wieland-Blöse reorganised the management team of Grant Thornton Germany and aligned it with the firm’s growth and future-oriented areas. The company will announce her successor as CEO at a later date.
