Grant Thornton advises Dawn Meats

Düsseldorf, 14 July 2026

Dawn Meats, a leading international producer and supplier of beef and lamb, has acquired Alexander Eyckeler GmbH, a wholesaler specializing in the import and marketing of high-quality chilled and frozen meat specialties. The transaction is part of the ongoing integration of the Alliance Group, following Dawn Meats’ acquisition of a 65 percent majority stake in the New Zealand-based company late last year. Antitrust approval has already been granted, and the transaction closed in early June 2026. 

An interdisciplinary team from Grant Thornton in Germany, led by Düsseldorf partners Marco Wagner (Legal) and Torben Schlitt (Tax), provided comprehensive advice to Dawn Meats on the acquisition of Alexander Eyckeler GmbH. The services provided included legal and tax due diligence as well as comprehensive support during negotiations to finalize the share purchase agreement (SPA).

With this acquisition, Dawn Meats is systematically continuing the integration of the Alliance Group and strengthening its market presence in Germany. At the same time, Dawn Meats enhances its access to key customers, optimizing collaboration along the supply and logistics chain, and ensuring continuity for the Alexander Eyckeler GmbH team and its customers.

Alexander Eyckeler GmbH is a specialized German importer and marketer of high-quality meat products based in Erkrath near Düsseldorf. The company, which has been in business for more than 25 years, specializes in the import and marketing of chilled and frozen meat specialties from overseas.
