On 23 February 2024, the German Bundestag passed the Act on the Controlled Use of Cannabis and on the Amendment of Other Regulations (Cannabis Act). This Act legalises private cultivation by adults for their own use as well as the joint, non-commercial cultivation of cannabis in cultivation associations. The Cannabis Act opens up new opportunities for the cannabis industry compared to the current situation. Even though the large-scale cultivation and commercial sale of cannabis for recreational purposes will not be possible during the first phase of the legislation, there will already be business opportunities to distribute cannabis seeds, accessories, infrastructure and to provide expert know-how.
