Grant Thornton advises SGT Capital on the acquisition of ELATEC

Grant Thornton Germany advised SGT Capital in the course of its acquisition of ELATEC-Group, the leading international developer and supplier of a range of secure physical and digital access solutions. SGT Capital has announced that Summit Partners Europe Growth Equity Fund II has agreed to sell ELATEC to SGT Capital. The transaction is valued at approximately EUR 400 million and is subject to customary regulatory approvals.
The interdisciplinary Grant Thornton team was led by Dr. Achim Kestler and amongst others provided tax due diligence, tax structuring and SPA related tax advisory services to the investor.
ELATEC provides contactless (RFID/BLE/NFC) reader hardware for user identification and a proprietary IoT platform with SaaS device management solutions globally. ELATEC has more than 150 employees around the globe and supports 60+ RFID card type technologies plus BLE and NFC, while its products are certified in 110 countries and enable end- to-end encryption.
SGT Capital is a global private equity firm investing into mid-sized market leading companies in structurally growing markets. The investment approach is complemented by further management support to realize international growth ambitions along with traditional private equity value creation strategies. SGT Capital Group is, with their investment approach, mainly focused on Western Europe, including Israel and selectively North America. The firm has offices located in both Germany and Singapore.
