Grant Thornton Germany wins Martin Biegel for the new position of CFO/COO
- Martin has many years of professional experience, with positions in auditing and as CFO and managing director and proven transformation expertise
- He takes on the role as CFO/COO as part of the newly established Senior Leadership Team
- New management structure reflects future areas and growth strategy of Grant Thornton Germany
Düsseldorf, 9 February 2026 – Martin Biegel joined the Senior Leadership Team of the audit and advisory firm Grant Thornton Germany in February as the new Chief Financial Officer/Chief Operating Officer (CFO/COO) and in this role will actively help drive the firm’s strategic development.
With around 18 years of professional experience, Martin brings valuable knowledge to the company. As the CFO and most recently managing director of Software AG, he was responsible for complex M&A projects in over 35 countries and played a central role in the public-to-private delisting of the former MDAX company. He began his professional career as an auditor at the Big Four companies KPMG and Deloitte; at Deloitte he was ultimately a partner in the Audit & Assurance division.

With the appointment of Martin Biegel, the newly created position of CFO/COO at Grant Thornton Germany comes into effect. It is part of the new Senior Leadership Team (SLT), which started work at the beginning of February. Here, the service lines are represented by their spokespersons Audit & Assurance, Tax & Legal as well as Advisory, who are thus even more closely involved in the overall management of the company as well as in key strategic, personnel and structural decisions and objectives. The SLT also reflects Grant Thornton’s future fields and growth strategy in Germany – in addition to the now successfully filled position of CFO/COO, the SLT also covers the areas of strategy (Chief Strategy Officer/CSO), digitalisation and innovation (Chief Digital & Technology Officer/CDTO) and talent acquisition & retention (Chief HR Officer/CHRO).
