Grant Thornton advises Trane Technologies

The global climate innovator Trane Technologies and its Thermo King brand, a leader in sustainable transport temperature control solutions, have acquired Transport-Kälte-Vertrieb (TKV), the largest of five independent Thermo King and Frigoblock dealers in Germany. The transaction closed on 4 May 2026. TKV will continue to serve the southern Germany market under the name Thermo King Deutschland. 

An interdisciplinary team from Grant Thornton Germany, led by the partners Wilhelm Mickerts (financial advisory) and Axel Wagner (tax), provided comprehensive advice to Trane Technologies in connection with the transaction. The services rendered included financial and tax due diligence, advice on structuring as well as support with negotiating the purchase agreement on tax and financial matters.

The acquisition strengthens Thermo King’s industry-leading transport refrigeration service network across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and follows recent acquisitions in the UK and Belgium. These strategic investments expand Thermo King’s scale, reach and market leadership and support the decarbonisation of refrigerated transport and accelerate growth in the region. 

With its sales and service headquarter in Ulm, Germany, TKV has represented Thermo King in southern Germany for 55 years. TKV specialises in the sale, installation and after-sales service of transport refrigeration units and accessories, in addition to maintenance and telematics solutions. The company is regarded in the market as providing excellent quality of service, positioning it well for continued growth and success in the German market.
