Grant Thornton advises TÜV Rheinland

Frankfurt/Düsseldorf, 19 February 2026

As part of a strategic takeover, TÜV Rheinland AG has assumed 100 per cent of Schwerdtgruppe, a provider of services in occupational health and safety and fire safety, based in Freudenstadt (Baden-Württemberg). By taking over Schwerdtgruppe, TÜV Rheinland is strengthening its regional presence in the northern Black Forest and continuing its growth strategy in occupational health and safety.

An interdisciplinary team from Grant Thornton Germany, led by Axel Wagner (tax) and Justus Quack (financial advisory), supported TÜV Rheinland during the entire transaction. The provided services included financial and tax due diligence as well as comprehensive support with all the tax and financial issues related to the transaction.

TÜV Rheinland AG, based in Cologne, is one of the world’s leading testing service providers and one of Germany’s largest providers of services in occupational health and safety and occupational medicine.

Schwerdtgruppe, established in 2010, is a specialised provider of services in occupational health and safety and fire safety. With its three subsidiaries Support & Consulting GmbH, Argutec GmbH and Ellinger Arbeitssicherheit GmbH, the group offers an extensive range of services. Customers include companies from the automotive sector, suppliers, machinery and plant engineering, the cutting industry, vehicle repair garages and the food industry. The service portfolio includes the areas of building site security, fire safety, explosion protection and audit services.
